The Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) in Hobart houses Australia’s largest private collection of modern art and antiquities. The multi-award winning lighting design, produced especially for MONA is what really sets the museum apart.
Internally MONA is all about the art. Concealed light details lead visitors into the dark, subterranean space. The art is then brought to life by LED based fibre optics, with appropriate lenses to provide hidden, glare-free lighting. Externally, the hidden concept continues with the large rooftop terrace lit using concealed low-level LED strips. THEY define the spaces rather than directly lighting them.
